Splendora is a city in southeastern Montgomery County, Texas, positioned within the Greater Houston metropolitan area along Interstate 69/U.S. Highway 59. The community was renamed Splendora in 1896, and for much of its history it remained a small East Texas town set among the piney woods northeast of Houston. Its location at the junction of U.S. 59 and Farm Road 2090 has long made it a stopping point along the highway corridor, and that same position now drives its growth as Houston's suburban reach extends northeastward.
