The surrounding countryside is organized into larger ranchettes and agricultural tracts rather than named subdivisions, a sharp contrast with the master-planned communities just east in Fulshear. This patchwork of acreage and quiet farm roads gives Simonton its distinctive open, rural setting within minutes of suburban conveniences.

Life in Simonton revolves around space and the outdoors. Residents commonly keep horses, cattle, and other livestock, supported by local services such as the Simonton Veterinary Clinic, and the pace is slower than in nearby growth corridors. The ranching heritage is visible in the purebred cattle operations that gave the town its identity. At the same time, Fulshear's shopping and dining and Richmond's civic institutions are a short drive away, so country living does not mean isolation. The Brazos River adds a scenic backdrop for a community centered on rural, self-reliant living.

Simonton is served by Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, one of the largest districts in Fort Bend County. Lamar CISD covers Simonton alongside Richmond, Rosenberg, Kendleton, and surrounding communities, operating a broad network of elementary, middle, and high schools as the west side of the county grows. Students in the Simonton area attend campuses within the district, which continues to add facilities to serve the Fulshear and Simonton corridors. The district's presence links Simonton's rural households to established public schooling across the region.

Simonton sits where Farm Road 1093 and Farm Road 1489 intersect, about five miles west of Fulshear. FM 1093 is the local artery that becomes the Westpark Tollway corridor toward Houston, and Fort Bend County has planned an extension of the tollway west toward FM 1489 at Simonton, which would tighten access to the region's road network. The Grand Parkway (State Highway 99) loops north and east of nearby Fulshear, connecting to Interstate 10. Downtown Houston is roughly thirty-five to forty miles away, reachable via the tollway and freeway system.

The Brazos River runs along Simonton's setting, and the broader area is rich in outdoor and historical attractions. The George Ranch Historical Park, a 480-acre living-history museum on a working ranch in nearby Richmond, preserves more than a century of Texas ranching life. Brazos Bend State Park lies farther south, offering trails, lakes, and wildlife viewing along the river. Within Simonton itself, the equestrian tradition itself is recreation, with riding and livestock on private acreage forming the everyday outdoor life of the community.
