Lacy Lakeview is a city in McLennan County, Texas, immediately northeast of Waco and part of the Waco metropolitan area. With a population of about 6,990, it is a compact residential community formed from two adjoining settlements—Lacy and Lakeview—that grew up along the interurban rail line between Dallas and Waco. The city's history is rooted in transportation. Both Lacy and Lakeview were stations on the Texas Electric Railway, the interurban line that once connected Dallas and Waco, and the communities took shape around that service. Lakeview was named for the small spring-fed lakes nearby, and the Lakeview school, which replaced the earlier Frost school in nearby Lacy in 1915, became the focus of an independent school district in 1927. Today Lacy Lakeview is an established, working-class residential city of single-family homes, small businesses, and local parks, located along the Interstate 35 corridor northeast of downtown Waco. Its neighborhoods, many dating from the mid-twentieth century, give the city a settled, unpretentious feel. Its position gives residents quick access to Waco's employment, shopping, and institutions, including Baylor University and McLennan Community College, as well as Lake Waco and the Brazos River. Public education is served primarily by the Connally Independent School District, which is headquartered in Lacy Lakeview and serves most of the city, with portions also served by the La Vega Independent School District in nearby Bellmead. This dual-district arrangement reflects the city's position at the junction of several Central Texas communities. For residents, Lacy Lakeview offers an established, affordable community within the Waco area, combining small-city convenience with direct access to one of Central Texas's principal economic and cultural centers. Its location near Interstate 35 also puts the Dallas–Fort Worth and Austin corridors within practical reach.
